Bookkeeper

 Job Purpose

The Bookkeeper will manage the core financial functions of The Philadelphia Project (TPP) and her sister construction nonprofit, TPP Construction Ministries (TCM). Primary tasks will be centered around bookkeeping, primarily with Quickbooks, including A/P, A/R, and reporting. However, there will be some work related fundraising and online giving systems. As with any small nonprofit, staff are expected to wear multiple different hats and help when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

  • Reconcile accounts

  • Provide regular financial reports (profit & loss, budget vs. actuals, balance sheet) to staff, the executive director, and the Board of Directors

  • Provide effective cash management through cash flow forecasting and historical analysis

  • Provide coordination and management of TPP’s & TCM’s annual financial review

  • Ensure all required local, state, and federal filings are made accurately and in a timely fashion

  • Assist with annual budget development process

  • Manage payroll systems and run biweekly payroll

  • Provide coordination for the employee benefit programs: health insurance, dental insurance, and retirement savings

Qualifications

  • Active, growing relationship with Jesus Christ 

  • Ability to maintain a positive, teachable attitude in all things, remaining Christ-centered in life

  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team

  • 2+ years of relevant nonprofit bookkeeping experience

  • Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online), ADP, bill.com, DonorPerfect, Google suite, or similar software programs, strongly preferred

  • Strong understanding of budgeting, accounts payable, debits, credits, and general ledger accounting principles. 

  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, participants, partners, and supporters

  • Familiarity with administrative functions of a nonprofit organization

  • A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and a willingness to learn new skills
